Dorinda Medley’s RHONY Speech Brought Andy Cohen To Tears

Andy Cohen revealed that The Real Housewives of New York Citys Dorinda Medley’s iconic speech actually brought him to tears in season nine. Unsurprisingly, this speech took place in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, which tends to bring out the worst in the women.

Fans remember the infamous “I made it nice!” speech from season 9 Berkshires Blue Manor fame, as it is the most quoted Dorinda Medley line of all time. This line came about when Dorinda reached her breaking point on an annual Berkshires Blue Manor cast trip. After a screaming match with RHONY alum Bethenny Frankel, Luann de Lesseps made fun of the birthday cake Dorinda’s mom baked and decorated for her. Dorinda yelled, “I cooked, I decorated, I made it nice!” But her unforgettable one-liner actually had a lot more depth to it, according to The Real Housewives of New York producer Andy Cohen.

‘I made it nice’ [is more iconic] because that ‘clip’ [comment] was a cute moment and it was great and whatever,” Andy Cohen said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, referring to the moment when Dorinda cut everyone off, yelling “clip!” when they dared to speak about her. “But ‘I made it nice,’ the thing that makes the speech so iconic is that it is a speech. It is a speech that anyone can relate to. This woman broke her back to have her friends come over. She cooked. She cleaned. She made it nice. And these b*tches are disrespecting her at every step of the way [and] her mother’s cake – and she broke.”

The host of Watch What Happens Live and Radio Andy added, “I almost cried when I saw that for the first time because I just thought it was so relatable for every woman or man who has spent a long time preparing. And many people have breakdowns on Thanksgiving night. It just is emblematic of doing something and not being respected for it.” Don’t even get Dorinda started on Luann’s disrespectful comments about the “fish room“!

We can’t determine whether Andy Cohen actually shed a tear during Dorinda’s breakdown. Now, however, we’re wondering just how many other speeches have deeply affected the host. Did he cry when the ladies disrespected Ramona at her birthday party on the July 23 episode or was Dorinda’s speech the only moment in The Real Housewives of New York City history that brought him to tears?

NewsColony Volunteers book hotel room for homeless man with SingapoRediscovers vouchers © The Independent Singapore Singapore — A group of volunteers from the Mummy Yummy Singapore welfare organisation donated their SingapoRediscovers Vouchers to book a hotel room for a homeless man. The man, who was identified as Jayden, did not have a place to live while waiting for the Housing Board (HDB) to allocate him a rental flat. In a Facebook post on Mummy Yummy Singapore’s page on Wednesday (Dec 16), the volunteers said: “We used our $100 Rediscover Singapore vouchers to redeem hotel stay for him and successfully booked 9 days worth of stay at 3 days per voucher.” They added that they were unable to book a longer stay because of higher hotel rates over Christmas and New Year. The volunteers hoped that they would be able to bridge Jayden’s stay until he got a flat. “Thanks our government for giving us these vouchers which in return we can put them to good use for people in need,” th...

Disabled people are still vulnerable, even as COVID-19 normalizes their ‘special’ needs

Disabled people are still vulnerable, even as COVID-19 normalizes their ‘special’ needs NewsColony Perhaps it’s appropriate that public notices of the COVID-19 crisis began as an ableist cruelty. Health officials assured the nation that only the elderly and those with chronic health conditions would be seriously affected; most Americans (i.e., the normal people) would have only mild symptoms and be fine. x A friendly reminder: people who will be high-risk patients if we get coronavirus can hear you when you reassure everyone we’re the only ones who might die. — Alexandra Brodsky (@azbrodsky) February 29, 2020 Soon after the announcement of those assurances, the likelihood of high-risk people surviving was further limited by the people more likely to be fine. Shopping frenzies cleared stores of essential supplies needed everyday by many disabled people, like thermometers, hand wipes, masks, and IV infusion supplies. Accustomed to their needs ...
