Young contestant on Millionaire Hot Seat insists world is flat because she ‘can’t see the curvature’
A young contestant on Millionaire Hot Seat has insisted the word is flat because she can’t see the curvature of the earth from her house – before being eliminated on the first question.
Ashleigh Koutsoukos proudly told of her belief in the debunked theory on Wednesday night’s episode after winning the fastest finger first round to advance to the hot seat.
The nursery hand from Springwood in New South Wales’ Blue Mountains was so confident in the concept she wore a shirt on the game show reading ‘the earth is flat’.

New South Wales Millionaire Hot Seat contestant Ashleigh Koutsoukos proudly told of her belief in the flat earth theory when she appeared on Wednesday night’s episode of the game show
When asked by host Eddie McGuire to explain her theory, she replied ‘it’s not really a theory when its true’.
The young woman then argued it is not possible to know if the earth was finite because the Antarctic Treaty prevented exploration below Antarctica.
‘I live on top of the mountains and I can see the city – there’s no curvature,’ she said.
She also called space travel the ‘best joke I’ve ever heard’.
‘That car in space – it’s just hilarious,’ she said.
McGuire said he could see the earth’s curve on a recent flight, but Ms Koutsoukous continued to argue her point.
‘Maybe my camera is broken and has a fish eye lens,’ she fired back sarcastically.

She couldn’t find the right answer though when asked which of four options was the correctly spelled word
Despite her confidence in her theory, she came up short when faced with the first question asking her to find the correctly spelled word out of four options.
She wrongly chose ‘missfit’ when the correct answer was ‘misspell’.
‘Flat Earthers’ believe in the scientifically disproven theory the earth is encircled by a giant ice wall and NASA have used fraudulent imagery to make the planet look spherical.
The movement has attracted a number of celebrity adherents, including rapper B.o.B. and former reality TV star Tila Tequila.
Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving last year apologised for saying the world is flat – saying he had learned certain thoughts are best kept in ‘intimate conversations’.
