Sydney terror suspect arrested after travelling to Syria
A New South Wales man has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences at a western Sydney home this morning.
NSW’s Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) began investigating the man’s travels to Syria last year, as part of an inquiry into foreign incursion and engagement in hostile activities.
The 44-year-old was arrested at Mount Lewis, near Bankstown, at 9.40am today and taken to Bankstown Police Station.
Following the arrest, the JCTT raided a nearby home.
The JCTT is comprised of ASIO and NSW Crime Commission investigators, as well as officers from NSW Police and the Australian Federal Police.
More to come.
