Armed police descend on London common as man and a woman are stabbed

Armed police rushed to a London common tonight after two people were stabbed. 

Officers arrested a man after a man and woman were found bleeding in Clapton Common, Hackney at around 11.20pm.

The victims have been taken to hospital for treatment.  

A cordon remains in place.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘Police were called at 23.24hrs to reports of a stabbing near Clapton Common, E5.

‘Officers and LAS attended the scene where they found a man and women suffering from injuries. They have been taken to hospital.

‘We await an update on their conditions. A man (no further details at present) has been arrested and taken to a nearby police station.

‘Enquiries continue.’
