AFL star Lachie Hunter’s fiance opens up on her gruelling battle with IVF

The fiancee of Western Bulldogs star Lachie Hunter has opened up about her gruelling two-year journey trying to have children.

Maddison Sullivan-Thorpe shared a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday detailing her struggle to fall pregnant after five rounds of IVF.

Posting a photo of herself wearing a hospital gown after her fifth and final round, Ms Sullivan-Thorpe announced that after 149 injections she was ready to move on.

‘Time to put down the needles and start living my best life,’ she wrote.

‘Motherhood sounds so f**king magical – I’m sure it is every bit as lovely and brilliant as everyone describes.

‘But… I’ve also met and spoken with some pretty happy, loved-up women who for a variety of reasons have not had children; and you know what they seem to have found some pretty darn special magic in their lives too.’

Ms Sullivan-Thorpe said the past two years had drained her ‘energy and emotional capability’ while leaving her feeling ‘helplessly out of control’.

‘To the women and men who walk this path, I feel so deeply for you’

‘But man it’s made me tough and emotionally I know now nothing can break me,’ she wrote.

‘Two years since all this began and I am finally at peace with whatever the future holds for me.

‘Kids don’t equal happiness and it’s so damn comforting for people like me, crippled by uncertainty to know that.’

Ms Sullivan-Thorpe has been open about her struggles to fall pregnant and last December shared a video montage of her administering her hormone injections.

‘To the women and men who walk this path, I feel so deeply for you – it’s one hell of a fight, physically, emotionally and financially,’ she wrote last year.

The emotional post comes after a tumultuous year for her fiance.

Just weeks ago he pleaded guilty to drink driving after smashing his car into four parked cars in Melbourne in April.

The vaccine, identified as Ad5-nCoV, was jointly developed by a team at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, led by Major General Chen Wei, and Tianjin-based company CanSino Biologics . It is the first time that a vaccine candidate for Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, has been authorised for use for the military of any nation. CanSino said on Monday that the candidate had been through two phases of clinical trials, which indicated it was safe and there was “relatively high” immune response to the antigen. The candidate is yet to start
