New South Wales records 13 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday
New South Wales has recorded 13 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday as a Thai restaurant in Newtown becomes the latest cluster.
Of the 13 new cases to 8pm on Monday night, two are returned travellers in hotel quarantine.
The other 11 cases are locally acquired and linked to known clusters, including seven connected to the August CBD cluster.
There is now a total of 41 cases associated with the CBD cluster.
Anyone who dined at It’s Time for Thai restaurant on King Street in Newtown on August 28 between 5-8pm is considered a close contact to a positive case and must immediately get tested regardless of symptoms.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian also announced the easing of restrictions on the state’s border permit system with Victoria.
‘Pleasingly, having obviously heard the sustained concerns of the community, and seeing the rates of infection in Victoria decline, from this Friday the border region, will be extended to that initial 50 kilometres on either side of the border,’ she told reporters in Albury.
‘We hope restrictions in Victoria are eased and they’re able to maintain that low level of cases because that will ensure we don’t need to leave the border open a single day more than we have to.’
