The capital’s spiralling knife crime scourge continues unabated as two more young men lost their lives this weekend.

A murder investigation is underway after a 24-year-old man died in hospital following a stabbing in east London shortly after 5am on Saturday, March 7.

Scotland Yard confirmed the victim as being Ricardo Fuller although a formal identification has yet to take place.

Police were called to reports of a man suffering stab injuries inside a nightclub in Ilford High Road.

Mr Fuller was taken to an east London hospital but died at 11.41am, police said.

A 29-year-old man, arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, is being held at an east London police station.

The Metropolitan Police said: ‘At this early stage it is believed Ricardo had attended the club where an event was taking place.

‘Ricardo had gone outside when he was attacked and chased before he made his way back inside the venue.’

Mr Fuller’s next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled.

A second major murder investigation is underway after teenager Archie Beston was ‘in the wrong place at the wrong time’ and stabbed outside John Lewis in Kingston, south west London.

His family said the 17-year-old had ‘his whole life in front of him’ and that he planned to work the summer season in Ibiza.

That dream was stolen from him after he was stabbed on a night out in London on Friday, February 29.

His distraught family called him their ‘whole world’ and said: ‘Archie was loved by everyone who knew him.

‘He was a family boy, so happy and loved to enjoy life. He was sweet natured and popular, he had no enemies and always helped anyone.

‘Anyone who knew Archie would know that he has never been in any trouble or known to the police, and tragically he appears to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was so innocent.’

Archie had been out with friends on a Friday night in Kingston when he was attacked.

Emergency crews were dispatched at 3.40am Saturday to reports of an incident in Wood Street, Kingston, where Archie was found with stab wounds.

He died six days later.

Homicide detectives launched a murder investigation and four men have been arrested in connection with the attack.

A 20-year-old was arrested on the day of the stabbing and remains in custody.

He is due to appear in Kingston Crown Court on March 26 to face charges of possession of points and blades, and affray.

An 18 year old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on February 29 and bailed to return later this month.

A second 20 year old was arrested the following day, charged with GBH and dangerous driving. He was granted bail at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court and is due to appear Kingston Crown Court at the end of the month.

A 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of affray but no further action was taken.

Chief Inspector Helen Rance, is leading the investigation. She said: ‘Archie’s family have been left utterly devastated by the sudden loss of their son, who was very much loved and had his whole life ahead of him.’

Sally Benatar, the South West Commander, said: ‘This is a senseless and tragic loss of a young life and my thoughts are with Archie’s family and friends at this very sad time.’

Elsewhere in the country, a 45-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 20s was fatally stabbed in Essex on Friday night. another young man lost his life after being stabbed to death in Sheffield.

According to official Met figures there were 55 fatal stabbings in the capital in 2014 climbing steadily to a peach of 90 in 2019.
