Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have released a Shaun of the Dead–inspired video, acting as a public service announcement amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The stars of the 2004 comedy classic rephrase the famous “the plan” scene while discussing what to do when social distancing.
Frost starts the clip by asking, ”What’s the plan?” with Pegg replying: “Right, call Mum, make sure she’s okay. If Phillip has been infected, follow the NHS guidelines to the letter.
“Do not go to the Winchester, the pub is out,” Pegg adds with Frost interjecting, “Even if it’s shut?”
“Especially if it’s closed. Remember what happened the last time?” Says Pegg, before the pair reference the zombie-filled events of the movie.
UK authorities have urged people to work from home and avoid socialising in pubs and restaurants in a bid to curb the spread of infection.
Boris Johnson has said that “now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others, and to stop all unnecessary travel. We need people to start working from home when they can. You should avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such venues”.
On Thursday he added that he believed the UK could “turn the tide” against coronavirus – get over the worst of the outbreak – within three months if Britons stuck to the advice the government had given.
In the video, Pegg concludes: “If you can, stay at home, have a cup of tea and wait for all this to blow over. Above all, don’t be a t**t about this, we’re all in this together, don’t be selfish, look after each other, give someone a call if you think they might be lonely.”
