After a challenging year for many, some of Australia’s favourite stars are eager to bring on the Christmas festivities and bid farewell to 2020.

Today host Karl Stefanovic is craving the beach this festive season and has flown to Noosa with his wife, Jasmine Yarbrough, and their baby daughter, Harper May.

‘We’ll be in Queensland, and we’ll have a beach Christmas this year which will be fabulous,’ the Channel Nine star told Daily Mail Australia.

‘New Year’s Eve will be spent on a beach welcoming in the new year and saying goodbye and good riddance to 2020,’ he added.

Karl’s co-anchor Allison Langdon will be spending Christmas with her family in Wauchope, a small town 400 kilometres north of Sydney.

‘We’ll be at a farm in Wauchope at mum and dad’s place, and with my mother-in-law who’s coming down from Queensland,’ she said.

‘We don’t have any plans for New Years at this point. My goal is to make it to 9pm!’

In a Christmas miracle, Nicole Kidman is said to have timed her exit from private quarantine in the Southern Highlands perfectly to reunite with family for the festive season.

About two weeks ago, Nicole returned to Australia from a quick trip to Ireland to shoot Robert Eggers Viking epic, The Northman.

Husband Keith Urban and their children Faith and Sunday are believed to be awaiting Nicole at the couples’ Lavender Bay abode.

Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky are preparing to host their second Christmas at their $20million Byron Bay pad. 

Earlier this month, they showed off the family’s lavish Christmas tree, which towers over Elsa and features gorgeous red and gold decorations.

Appearing to be hosting many of their relatives, Elsa’s brother Cristian Prieto and sister-in-law Silvia Serra are already in town.

Last year, the couple hosted their extended family at their mega-mansion, setting up wooden tables with fern, frangipani and bauble displays near their stunning rooftop pool.

Comedian and The Masked Singer judge Dave Hughes is planning to celebrate the holidays in Melbourne before hitting the road.

‘I’ll be spending Christmas in Melbourne with family before, me, the wife, kids and animals get in the car and drive to Sydney in time for New Year’s Eve!’ he said.

Christmas is a double celebration for pop twins The Veronicas, who happen to be turning 36 on December 25.

‘It is our birthday, and we are celebrating by sleeping over with our mama and waking up for “Birthmas day” with her,’ Jessica Origliasso said.

‘We try to spend time writing down our manifestations for NYE and getting an early night when possible!’ she added. 

Jessica said of her goals for 2021: ‘I want to love harder, give more, forgive quicker and be grateful.’

Having spent the past three months in Sydney filming Married At First Sight, relationship expert Mel Schilling is excited to be back with her family in Melbourne.

‘After being away from my family for so long this year, I can’t wait to spend Christmas with the family,’ Mel, 48, said.

‘This year, it’s Christmas Eve with my extended family in the Yarra Valley then a casual barbecue on Christmas Day with seafood, champers and sunshine.’

As for New Year’s, Mel says she is planning a quiet dinner for three with her husband, Gareth Brisbane, and their six-year-old daughter, Maddie.

‘Chrissy will be a little different this year, my first as a husband and a dad,’ he said.

‘I’ll be doing a roast, cleaning nappies, and my in-laws will probably teach me how to use nunchucks (they’re karate teachers).

‘My 2021 goals are keeping my sense of humour, not watching the news, staying creative and keeping food on the table for my new cute family.’

‘I’ll be flying to my home city of Perth to spend Christmas with my brothers and sisters, my stepdad and my mother,’ the 28-year-old revealed.

‘I’m excited because I’ll get to meet my very first baby nephew and be there for his first Christmas. He’s three months old now and I haven’t been able to see him because of Covid.’

Jessika also said this year will be the first time she has spoken to or spent time with her mother in quite a few years.

Despite winning $234,000 on Big Brother earlier this year, model Chad Hurst says he will be staying local this year.

But he has big plans for 2021, saying: ‘As soon as these borders open, I’ll be heading overseas to catch up on lost time with mates.’
