Kim Kardashian West took to social media this week to share her anger over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, telling followers that “I am angry and I am disgusted.”

“For years, with every horrific murder of an innocent black man, woman, or child, I have always tried to find the right words to express my condolences and outrage,” Kardashian West shared Saturday.

“But the privilege I am afforded by the color of my skin has often left me feeling like this is not a fight that I can truly take on as my own. Not today, not anymore. Like so many of you, I am angry. I am more than angry. I am infuriated and I am disgusted,” she continued.

Floyd died earlier this week after a Minneapolis police officer was seen in video footage kneeling on his neck during an arrest.

Kardashian, the wife of rapper Kanye West and mother of the couple’s four children, continued, saying that she is “exhausted by the heartbreak I feel seeing mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and children suffering because their loved one was murdered or locked away unjustly for being black.”

“Even though I will never know the pain and suffering they have endured, or what it feels like to try to survive in a world plagued by systemic racism, I know I can use my own voice to help amplify those voices that have been muffled for too long,” Kardashian West shared.

She also encouraged followers to text “FLOYD” to 55156, which redirects individuals to a petition calling for all of the officers involved in Floyd’s death to be charged with murder. The petition also asks Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) to “block their pensions” and “ban them from becoming police officers ever again.”

Kardashian also shared the hashtags, #BlackLivesMatters, #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd, #JusticeforAhmaudArbery and #JusticeforBreonnaTaylor, naming Ahmaud Arbery, a young black man who was killed in in a Georgia suburb earlier this year while jogging and Breonna Taylor, a black woman who was fatally shot in her Louisville, Ky., home by police.

Kardashian West has regularly advocated for criminal justice reform in the U.S.

Earlier this month, reports emerged that over a three-month period she helped commute the life sentences of 17 inmates who were incarcerated for nonviolent drug offenses. The inmates saw their sentences commuted under a program Kardashian West is funding through the groups the Buried Alive Project and The Decarceration Collective.

The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star has traveled to the White House multiple times to discuss criminal justice issues.

She successfully urged President Trump to commute the life sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a sentence over a nonviolent drug offense and money laundering charges at the time.
